Fuel Management System — Automated Fuel Control for African Operations

Stop fuel theft at source. Automated fuel dispensing, RFID vehicle authorisation and live tank inventory across Africa.

How AFTECH's Fuel Management System controls every drop

AFTECH’s Fuel Management System combines RFID vehicle authorisation, controller-based nozzle automation, and cloud-based reconciliation across every fuel depot in your operation.

Each transaction is logged with vehicle, driver, odometer, volume and timestamp — making theft, fraud and reconciliation errors visible within minutes, not months. AFTECH clients typically see 7–30% fuel cost reductions and full ROI within 3–6 months of deployment.

From mining fuel depots to logistics fleets and petrol stations, AFTECH’s fuel management system (FMS) protects every litre of diesel across Africa.

Live bulk tank monitoring across every depot

AFTECH equips bulk storage tanks with magnetostrictive fuel probes that monitor both fuel and water levels with sub-millimetre accuracy.

Readings refresh every 2 minutes on our cloud-based platform, allowing depot managers across Africa to view live tank levels, schedule fuel deliveries, and approve received volumes without manual tank dipping.

The system makes manipulation of delivery records or tank stocks visible immediately — giving you a verifiable audit trail of every litre that enters or leaves your depot.

Continuous water-layer monitoring before contamination spreads

Water doesn't show up the moment a delivery hits the tank — it takes time to separate from diesel and settle to the bottom. AFTECH's magnetostrictive probes continuously monitor water-layer thickness with sub-millimetre precision, so you spot contamination as it accumulates and schedule tank cleaning events before water reaches dispensing height.

Modernise legacy flowmeters without replacing them

AFTECH retrofits a pulser unit onto your existing flowmeters — capturing every litre received from delivery tankers and every litre dispensed to vehicles. The data streams live to your cloud platform, giving you a digital audit trail from delivery to dispense without replacing infrastructure you've already paid for.

RFID-authorised refuelling — only the right vehicles get fuel

AFTECH uses dual-factor RFID authorisation. Each vehicle in your fleet carries a unique RFID tag on its fuel filler neck. Each dispenser nozzle has a built-in RFID reader.

When a driver attempts to refuel, the nozzle reads the vehicle tag and the driver taps their own RFID tag at the controller — the controller then checks both against your authorisation rules before fuel can flow.

No valid pair, no fuel. Every transaction is logged automatically with vehicle, driver, odometer and timestamp.

Integrations and dashboards for full operational visibility

AFTECH’s Fuel Management System cuts hours of manual reconciliation work down to minutes.

Export refuelling transactions to Excel, or push live data directly into your accounting system, ERP or fuel-card platform via API. The cloud-based dashboard gives fleet managers and finance teams a single view of every litre — from delivery to depot to dispense — across every site in your operation.

7–30% fuel savings, 3–6 month payback

AFTECH clients typically see 7–30% reductions in fuel costs by combining automated dispensing, RFID authorisation and live tank inventory. Most operations reach full ROI within 3–6 months of deployment.

From spreadsheet chaos to single dashboard

Push refuelling data directly into your accounting platform or ERP. AFTECH supports Excel exports and API integrations with Sage, SAP, Pastel and most major African finance systems — making month-end fuel reconciliation a single dashboard view rather than a multi-day reconciliation cycle.

FAQ

Find quick answers to commonly asked questions about our technology solutions and industries.

AFTECH delivers integrated fleet telematics, fuel management, video telematics (AI dashcams), automatic tank gauging, PoC radio communications, workshop management software and visitor management — engineered for African operating conditions and locally supported since 2009. Each solution is tailored to the site, fleet or operation it serves.

AFTECH has seven country offices — Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Zambia and South Africa — plus satellite operations in Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. Local engineers handle installation, training and support in English and French, so you’re never relying on remote assistance from another continent.

Yes. AFTECH provides end-to-end deployment — site assessment, hardware installation, system configuration, staff training and ongoing after-sales support — delivered by in-country teams who understand African conditions: remote sites, dust, heat and intermittent connectivity.

AFTECH equips transport and logistics, mining, agriculture, construction, NGO and humanitarian, security, and insurance and leasing operators across Africa. Solutions are configured to each industry’s challenges, and are trusted by UNICEF, WFP, De Beers, ArcelorMittal and MSF, alongside hundreds more.

AFTECH has been deployed and locally supported across Africa since 2009, combining purpose-built technology with in-country installation and service. That local presence — seven offices, francophone and anglophone support, and a track record with leading mining, logistics, agriculture and humanitarian operators — means faster deployment, faster support and systems engineered to keep working where the work happens.
